Answers to some of the questions above:
Question #1, Lash Extensions:
A lot of makeup artists actually don’t like it when you are wearing lash extensions. A few reasons why: they get in the way of the eye makeup, you have to be very careful so you don’t pull any out, and many girls don’t want you to use eyeliner and mascara because it ruins them. So, your makeup doesn’t look right without both of those things, it pulls the look together.
Question #2,
Strip vs Individual Lashes
Strip lashes look so great in photos and makes your lashes look fuller. Individual lashes look great too but the makeup artist may use them to only fill in bare spots. Making them look not as full as strip lashes.
Question #3, Having enough shades of foundation. Make sure the makeup artist has foundation and concealer shades for ALL SKIN TONES. If they don’t, your foundation may not match your skin.
Question #4, Anything a separate charge? I get so many brides that call me after their wedding or after they’ve booked to realize the quote they were given was only for a basic application. I had one bride tell me they were charged extra for eyeshadow, blush, and highlighter! When you book with me everything is included but you have to be careful.
Question #5, What is your makeup background? I wish I had asked a makeup artist this once when I was younger. He was a GREAT makeup artist and did Drag makeup. I really liked him, but I left with blonde eyebrows and I am a brunette!! He told me this was how he was taught. So maybe have that conversation so you can tell them “hey I want this look..” wish I did! I talked about this story in this post about whether to get your makeup done for prom.
Question #10, having good products used on your skin. Not only could you break out, but I had a bride once and it was the hottest day of the year, over 100 degrees and her makeup lasted all day and night!
Question 11, Getting a spray tan I know everyone wants to look tan and bronzed on their wedding day but DO NOT TAN YOUR FACE! This is one of the biggest mistakes. I hear complaints from photographers all the time that it gives your face a ton of shadowing, and a grey-ish tint. We can match your skin with foundation!
