The Denim Dress

I’ve been waiting for a Spring day like today for a long time! Sunny and 80 degrees here in Ohio, so needless to say I took advantage of it! This denim dress was just the perfect touch to this amazing Spring day. This dress is simple enough to wear by itself or even to dress up with jewelry and heels. In today’s look, I wore a pair of my most comfortable shoes, my Sperry’s. Also, paired with my gold Christian Dior earrings and a simple necklace. This dress would even be great to wear to a graduation party this Summer because of it’s simplicity, light-weight feel and cool color tones. Direct links below!

Meet the Beauty Behind Lady Code

Is it possible to be both the beauty and the brains? Yes! Lisa Opie, the founder of The Lady Code Blog is THE perfect example. At a very young age, Lisa is the founder of a beauty, health, fitness, and women empowerment blog. Not to mention, she is also a co-founder of popular swimwear company. Also, she is a host for PageantLIVE and has met and interviewed many of the women I look up too in the pageant industry.

Lisa, has transformed the fashion industry by adding her attention to detail, expertise, and knowledge to help enhance the beauty of women worldwide. Now it’s time to meet the beauty behind Lady Code.

Name and Age: Lisa Opie, 24

Occupation: I own a swimwear line, Vizcaya Swimwear and I blog/vlog on the side for Lady Code! Lady Code opened so many doors for me including becoming a host on PageantLIVE and having my own fashion column in Crowned Pageantry Magazine.

How long your blog has been up and running? Is it your profession or a hobby?  I started it in 2014, it started out as a hobby but its starting to become a part time job!lisa-opie-pia-alonzo-wurtzbach-miss-universe-pageantlive-lady-code-e1452572179577

Favorite(s):

Magazine: Cosmo

Color: Pink

Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex or MAC Zoom Lash

Purse: Anything with gold accents or fringe…or both 

Designer: Balmain

Food: Chipotle

Current makeup obsessions: The Morphe 35o Palette and KoKo Lashes

Current fashion obsessions: Suede, chokers, pastels, and lace-up

The person you look up to the most and why? I can name so many but they all have a similar story: They took every challenge/adversity they had in their lives and found a ways to turn that experience into a positive, and sometimes even success! I love seeing successful people with a story about their past– how difficult times shaped who they are today. I always look to them for motivation when I need it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be? Bora Bora

The best moment in your life so far was when…. I studied abroad in Spain

What made you decide to start a blog? My best friend Stefania and I created Lady Code to serve as a women’s wellness and empowerment platform for women. We both had a history with bullying and we wanted to focus on empowering women through the blog. Stefania decided to pursue her career and her education so I sort of took over the blog.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I see Vizcaya Swimwear being a multi-million dollar company and I hope to be traveling across the country sharing my personal story to motivate women. I’m also obsessed with makeup and I might explore becoming a makeup artist on the side, as if I don’t have enough on my plate already!

If you could meet one famous person who would it be and why? James Franco to ask him to marry me.

How much time do you spend blogging and your favorite part about it? I spend about 3-5 days a week blogging. I love how much it motivates me!

Lisa Opie-3

How would you describe your personal style? I’m definitely a chameleon: I can be Barbie one day and total hippie the next, but I think I’ll always have a retro edge to my personal style.

If someone walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give them your best tip, what would it be? Do whatever makes you happy and don’t worry about what ANYONE thinks about you.

Most important content in a blog bloggers should address: Remain credible and authentic, no matter what offers you might get from sponsors.

The Truth About Tanning

Everyone wants a beautiful brazillian tan, right? But are you willing to pay the costs later in life? I can honestly say that the amount of times I’ve been in a tanning bed I can count on one hand. Although, the times I have been tanning, I did notice my freckles coming out on my face more than normal and other spots on my face. Scary, right? Yes! I already don’t like my freckles showing and I definitely don’t want them coming out anymore. I know as prom season is approaching, tanning is more popular than ever. I want you to think about the affects of tanning prior to getting into that tanning bed. So many people I know unfortunately have skin cancer or other things from the sun’s harmful rays, and/ or tanning beds and I don’t want to have to add you to that list. Below are both tans by Kathryn:

If you want that beautiful tan for half the price I highly recommend using SunSpray by Kathryn. While competing in pageants, I have had A LOT of spray tans. I was shocked when I worked with her for the first time… why? Because of how amazing the color was on me! I knew it was unlike the other tans I’ve gotten so I asked her. Kathryn has custom blended colors she uses during her tans to make sure her tans are like no one else. This is my secret to not being so pasty during the winter. Spray tans are the way to go, and such a healthier alternative. Kathryn is so personable, and makes you feel so comfortable. She recently sprayed me for the Miss OH Teen International Pageant that I got 1st Runner-Up in and the tan was flawless, NEVER orange! I high recommend to contact her the next time you’re looking for a tan she’s the way to go! If you’re wanting to book her for prom you will want to call her ASAP she books fast!! Thanks always Kathryn for making my tans so flawless!
