In the midst of the Coronavirus and quarantine, we headed out WEST! Utah has some of the most breathtaking views, and gorgeous mountains. I could hardly believe I was in the US! Check out everything we did….
Heading West During a Pandemic
HEADING WEST! Salt Lake City has always been a city I’ve wanted to travel to and I finally made it there! The furthest west I had ever been was to Las Vegas. Once you see true out west scenery, Vegas just doesn’t compare! Utah has some of the most breathtaking views, and gorgeous mountains. I could hardly believe I was in the US! It’s truly surreal…
During this time I was suppose to take a 3 week cruise on the coast of Italy, but due to the travel restrictions outside the US, I decided to use this time to experience nature and everything the US has to offer. Hands down this was one of the best trips of my life! Traveling during a pandemic was definitely interesting and a little nerve-wracking. My boyfriend Cody and I were really cautious about where we went and took every precaution possible. The only time we were really around people was in the airport and we wore masks the entire time. His best friend from high school moved out there a few months prior, so we didn’t even have to stay in a hotel or anything. We ended up staying at their apartment in Ogden but explored so many great places around there. Salt Lake was about 25-30 minutes from Ogden but didn’t have the congestion as Salt Lake and I LOVED that.
Exploring around Salt Lake City:
Antelope Island
This is a MUST SEE! As soon as got off the plane his friends took us here first. It’s a national park and has the most surreal views of the Salt Lake. There was salt all over and looked like white beaches. This was definitely the highlight of the trip for me! These photos are completely unedited!
Powder Mountain
We hiked three miles and had a picnic on one of the trials. It was so beautiful! The grassy fields reminded me of Sound of Music with the huge mountains in the back!
Park City
We only stopped here for lunch and went to Wasatch Brewery. Highly recommend! Their beer was great and the views were even better. We talked about doing a trip soon just going to Park City we loved it so much! If you like skiing, this is world renounced for their skiing and snowboarding. This is not too far from Salt Lake but down very large mountains. Make sure you know how to use your gear shifters in your car. We learned this the hard way and almost had to hitch a ride!
Bloods Lake
If you’re up for a challenge with insane views then hike this!! The hike is pretty hard but once you get to the lake its all worth it! I couldn’t believe this was at the top of the mountain. The views on the hike were pretty incredible. Best of the trip!
Where to grab a drink:
UTOG Brewery also great pub to eat at.
T.F. Brewing, SaltFire Brewing, and Fischer Brewing all had great reviews but we didnt make it to these on our trip! 🙁
Where to eat:
Slackwater – The best homemade pizza and great atmosphere overlooking mountains. Noisy if you sit outside.
UTOG Brewery– Great beer and bar food! Really great atmosphere in downtown Ogden.
Tona Sushi was on our list to visit also. Our friends love it.
Site seeing in Ogden:
The temples for sure are worth seeing. They are gorgeous and really light up the city. They are much bigger in person.
These are a must have to get around the city quickly!
The Best Ice Cream in Ogden:
Farr’s hands down the best ice cream I’ve ever had!! I had butter pecan and caramel…yum!
Travel Must Haves for Hiking:
Fannie Pack, Breathable and comfortable Workout Leggings, Running shoes or Hiking Boots, PFG SPF shirt are must haves!
