Every bride wants flawless, glowing skin on their wedding day. This is the base for impeccable makeup that will have you looking like a celebrity. Five essentials you MUST do before walking down the aisle on your unforgettable day. In this post; step by step what I tell my brides!
You can put as much makeup and layers on your skin as you want. The most flawless makeup starts with an incredible base, your skin. There are so many last minute things to do before your wedding and it’s very hectic at times. One thing you must not take for granted is your skincare routine.
5 Things You Should Do Before Your Wedding Day For Flawless Skin
The Skin Prep
- Start getting regular, routine facials. If anything, get two facials before your wedding day by an esthetician.
- Drink LOTS of water. Your skin is an organ and thrives on being hydrated. If people ever tell you you’re glowing, this is most than likely why.
- Start a clean, routine skin care regimen. This includes: retinol, vitamin a, balancing your skins PH levels, and exfoliating regularly.
- Make a dermatology appointment if you have skin issues. Popular skin conditions I deal with on a regular basis: Melasma, Eczema, Milia, Rosacea, Cystic Acne and Hyperpigmentation to name a few. Dermatologist can help you with treatments to get these cleared, or under control quickly.
- Healthy diet and getting plenty of sleep!
Skin care regimen for your wedding day
- Start with washing your face DAILY. Never go to sleep with makeup on. The most cellular turnover happens at night and you need fresh, clean skin!
- Exfoliate your skin at least 2 times a week, but no more than 4.
- Tone and balance your skin daily.
- Brightening Serums
- Retinoids a derivative of Vitamin A that helps with cell turnover and creating fresh cells for your skin.
- Collagen helps to plump the skin, avoid the injectables!
- Moisturize day and night.
- Daily moisturizers should have at least 25 SPF in them.
- Nightly moisturizers should be very hydrating and try to include some of the key ingredients listed above.
Here are some of my favorite products to recommend for my brides!
What face products to avoid the day of the wedding
Avoid any products that are silicone base! Most people don’t realize makeup is either silicone or water based. If your makeup artist is using water based makeup and you used a silicone base for moisturizer, you will break down the makeup. This results in patchy, dry, and flaky makeup. Most of the time people have issues with makeup separating, this is the issue!! I always tell clients, don’t come with anything on your face. We have everything you need.
The HOLY GRAIL of all tips; DO NOT SPRAY TAN YOUR FACE!!
Did you know? A spray tan oxidizes when makeup is applied. This is why you may hear people say their makeup was grey looking, or dull. I always tell my brides to omit tanning your face, or spray tanning your face.. Your makeup artist will be great at color matching your foundation. You don’t want to look dull, or greyish.
