In today’s post, you will learn a few important things about setting sprays. It’s one of the most important steps in the makeup process; you may be using it wrong and putting it on too late! Read my post here to see when you should use it and some tips to make your makeup last the longest!
Which Setting Spray is Best
There are so many on the market, choosing the best one can be really overwhelming. There are a lot of great options, but when you use so many different brands you definitely know what works and what doesn’t. Setting spray is important because it essentially seals in the makeup; making it last as long as possible. Some help with oil control, dryness, or some even make it matte. Knowing which look you want to achieve will help you choose your products.
When to apply setting spray
This tip will change your makeup game forever!! Setting spray does NOT go on last. You want to apply your setting spray when your foundation and base is still wet; before it dries. Once everything dries and you use setting spray, you are making the base makeup wet again! This results in more cracking and dry looking skin. It does not work well with textured skin, or really dry skin. Always use setting spray before powders!

When does setting spray expire
So important! If you look on the back of most products there is a month in the bottom right hand corner. Some says 6 months, other 12 months. That is how quickly you need to use your product after it’s been used or opened. Typically setting sprays are 12 months. I don’t recommend doing past those dates as products change and they don’t work as well.
The best setting spray for oily skin
Oily skin is very important to use with a MATTE Setting Spray! That means it locks in the moisturize but does not provide more moisture making you greasy and wet looking You do not wan to use a dewey setting sprays with this type of skin. My favorite options for oil skin are the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray and another great option is One Size Waterproof Setting Spray.
